It is the season of giving and giving thanks. This year, the McConnell Center, through our service team, has given me a greater opportunity to get involved and give back to my community.
My favorite time of the year, Project Warm, came upon us in early November and was, as usual, incredibly fulfilling. It was wonderful to meet fellow Louisvillians and assist them in weatherproofing their homes and help them prepare for winter.
Our Veterans' has also been very invloved on campus getting donation packs together to send to our troops both in Afganistan and Iraq. We collected an enormous amount of non-perishables and financial donations. Books, drink mix, clothing, toiletries, games, puzzles, and cards were all included in the boxes.
This time of year can be a tough period for those who have lost someone this year. Empathy, understanding, and a listening ear can do more than a thousand gifts under the tree. Remember, to give. It is the most rewarding gift to humanity; the ability to care.
