The Famous Dr. Kleber! What can be said about this famous man, besides awesome, besides brilliant, besides hilarious, Dr. Kleber is what we all inspire to be like. On Sunday evening, the McConnell family gathered together to celebrate our most dear senior fellow and send him off to his retirement with fireworks, or rather, cake, original song (thanks to Adam), and the unveiling of a cinematic creation solely about our very own, Kleber.
We lured him to the Kentucky Center for the Arts under the pretenses of viewing the "The Kentucky Show!", however, after the show finished we had our own showing of "The Kentuckian Kleber", which included a surprise clip of his mother, who told all about of his inaiblity to perform his own laundry duties. We had clips from fellow students talking about what story or moment they most cherish about their time spent with Dr. Kleber, although how can you choose from so many moments and stories? Also featured in the movie, Senator McConnell, that gave a very warm send off to our fellow, however, charging him to get started on his work for planning our Summer Retreat!
Following the Kentuckian Kleber Show, there was a warm reception were old friends joined with scholars and celebrated our beloved Kleber. Lots of photos were taken, stories told, mostly about the amazing and very historical Thomas Walker House that we visited last summer on retreat. Even better than the stories retold about the Thomas Walker House was the replica that Dr. Kleber found in a old antique shop, and gifted to the McConnell Center for us to "forever remember him by". Let's be honest though, how could anyone ever forget Dr. Kleber? He definitely won't forget that day at the Thomas Walker House either! As one of his many going away presents, the Center asked me to do a drawing of Dr. Kleber infront of the ancient, historical site. We won't be forgot either.
Dr. Kleber we love you and will miss you dearly!
