Scooby-Doo has been a staple for childhoods since the sixties. Since beginning as an animated short on television, it has become a multimedia franchise complete with movies, merchandise, and even a theme park. I have loved Scooby-Doo for as long as I can remember because not only did my parents show me the original shorts they grew up with, but because the franchise is constantly coming out with new things. That is around sixty years of media to consume, so the question that is raised is which are most worth watching? Below are the thirty-four direct to video 2D animated Scooby-Doo movies in order of release, and their rating out of five I give after watching all of them.

Scooby-Doo has stayed relevant not only because of its light-hearted comedy but because of the belief and ideas that Scooby-Doo represents: there is nothing to be afraid of because there is nothing you can not overcome. As a child growing up anxious and afraid of the dark, Scooby-Doo taught me many lessons on being brave. I was showed that it was okay to be “girly” like Daphne or a “nerd” like Velma, I can be a leader even when I sometimes doubt myself like Fred, Shaggy showed me that it is normal to be afraid, and Scooby-Doo told me nothing was impossible. So, I end with this, what are the monsters in your life that maybe the lessons of Scooby-Doo can help you solve and take off the mask.
