Walking in the Light of Night

Colton Stinger ('19)

Rise gently from the night.
In the dark a new star shines forth a blinding light.
Quietly wake and wait under my wing.
With all Heaven and Earth now gathered together,
Listen closely and joyfully receive this glad tiding.
Listen closely and hear a voice like a feather.

Rise now and stand.
I’ll guide you on the path to that choir most grand.
Can you hear Angels’ voices and all the Earth sing?
I’ll walk beside you, though you may not see me.
Follow closely, and stay here under my wing.
Listen closely to a song now sung firmly.

Rise up and climb.
I urge you now, do not waste time,
For when you talk but no one hears,
When you listen but no one speaks,
I’ll take you away from your fears,
To that heavenly chorus your soul seeks.
And upon my wings you shall wipe your tears.

Look out now o’er all the world,
And witness angels’ wings unfurled.
Can you hear the mountains in the distance
Echoing out their joyous reply
And proclaiming Love’s existence
As all mankind should justly testify?

Lift up your voice.
With angels and the world, rejoice.
And with my wings I shall carry thee,
Beneath the light of that bright star shining.
The voice of Creation in holy harmony,
Praises and proclaims a newborn King.
